BMT Tool holder:
BMT Tool holders are called base mounted turrets and are used for precise tooling. The holder will mount rigidly into the turret with four moulds. The keys on the turret head do not indicate straightening the tools like VDI tool holders. They have a straightforward design, unlike VDI tool holders, which are complicated. Once the device is installed, it is then secured by alignment keys.

This type of holder has a serrated shaft through which they are inserted into the turret. This tool is kept in place with a mating part with teeth inside a turret. The VDI tool holder is held in place with the help of a pin. The pin is located on the turret heads surface. They can be mounted on the outer circumference of the turret head or according to the turret head configuration. They should be indicated, so they set in a straight position in the turret. This step maintains precision in the process. Buy your VDI Tool Holder online from sphoorti online shop

What does "VDI" stand for? - CNC Machining
Just out of curiosity, what were the issues that users were having with VDI tool holding systems? I guess I am curious because I have one lathe that uses it, I have operated others that used it and I have two lathes without it that I wished it was used on. I like it and I wonder if others may get a bad impression of it from this thread and not investigate it properly to see if it's appropriate for their purpose. I also wonder about the comment about "difficult to indicate in"? One advantage to it is that proper tool selection completely eliminates any requirement to indicate the tool position in the holders.
Unless I am mistaken, the VDI turret uses nothing other than specific sizes of holes on the face of the turret. Into any hole, you could put a boring bar holder, OD tool holder, morse taper holder, driven tool, etc. Any appropriate tool could be oriented up, down, left, right, etc. just by selecting the right holder. Any tool and its offsets can easily be moved from hole to hole or even machine to machine by simply moving the holder and entering the appropriate offsets where required. If It would help to clarify my impression of the system, perhaps I could post a picture of the turret on my machine?
